In the Visual Designer role, I can take responsibility for the entire process of building valuable products and experiences, including UX, UI, Marketing, and identifying issues. A large part of the Visual Designer's role is designing solutions to problems that may arise during the initial product design iterations.


I also support the developers through the launch process and collaborate with the marketing team to ensure synergies between brands and products.


Additionally, I worked closely with the team to identify research questions, Plan and conduct interviews, Develop user surveys with sort cards, and test usability. Additionally, I design and execute studies on user behavior and attitudes, conduct heuristic evaluations, help define and refine user personas, and Present and communicate insights to help shape long-term product strategy.

01 - Empathize

Empathize in design thinking is a crucial early stage. Although these five stages can be carried out in parallel, most projects start with this stage. In this stage, our team must be empathetic to get to know users and understand their wants, needs and goals.


This stage also requires observers to abandon their assumptions about the user for a moment and begin to understand the user's mindset.


To get away from assumptions, our team will ask what the user does, how he does it, and why he does it. These three questions will help our team make objective observations.


In order to understand users from a psychological to emotional perspective, our team will interact directly with users. However, currently, there are many ways that can be used to understand users. For example, analyzing product feedback and identifying user behavior on social media.

After collecting data related to users, our next task is to analyze the data. Next, identify the problems or obstacles experienced by users. The define stage in design thinking itself is carried out to state the problem statement.


In naming the problem, we will use the user's perspective, not emphasize the actions that the company must take. For example, our logistics client needs a sameday service feature in their application, so...


From there, state the problem with "our logistics client currently needs a sameday service feature" rather than "it looks like we have to create a new feature." This will help clearly differentiate the problem statement and not confuse the company regarding stating the problem with the solution.

That's why, here, our team is given the freedom to explore any ideas.


However, formulating creative ideas is not easy. Some ideas will be considered interesting and others will just end up in the trash. Therefore, at this stage our team is required to think out-of-the-box. If the team has difficulty generating bright ideas, our team will use several frequently used ideation methods, such as brainstorming, mindmapping, and bodystorming (roleplay).

After selecting the most genius idea, the team will create a visualization of that idea. This stage does require experimentation to turn ideas into something visible. The prototype itself is an unfinished product, a simulation, a sample that can evaluate ideas and designs that the team has designed, for example like a beta version in making a website. This stage is important to test whether the product that has been worked on so far is in accordance with what was planned.


At this stage, the solution offered can be accepted, improved, redesigned, or even rejected. Therefore, the function of this stage is to ask again whether the existing product can answer the user's problems
